„Using spray paint at quite a distance allows me to have less control, to create unintentional mistakes and somehow surprise myself. The technique in itself induces error – it’s a way of getting loose. This can happen in an abstract painting, where I don’t have any preconceived idea of how it is going to look like. Not having full control on the technique opens the space up to a new approach, compared with the initial sketches.“

Ricardo Passaporte was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1987 and completed his Masters degree in Fashion Design. Passaporte's work can be recognized by its solitary figures placed against monotonous backgrounds. Passaporte's stylized painting maniera and his artistic skills of transforming the colors that were covered with aerosols into an almost three-dimensional painting, may be seen as his signature.
