With COVID still raging across the world, Pulpo Gallery hosts another online only show that takes its visitors on a journey back to the 80s when an exciting new art scene developed in downtown New York. Contemporaries Brett De Palma and Michael Holman guide you through an exciting decade and take you from the uptown hip hop movement to the downtown New York underground. The show visits clubs like Negril or the Mudd Club, the legendary group exhibition New York/New Wave at the P.S. 1, Institute for Art and Urban Resources (now the MoMA PS1) as well as the Times Square Show. It features works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, George Condo, Michael Holman, Brett De Palma and Judy Rifka. New York’s Art Scene in the 80s will run until November 30, 2020.
