Ricardo Passaportes painting from 2020 has the same name as our exhibition - Rebirth of Venus. This golden silhouette, which is graceful, dematerialized and immortalized forever in its static form, acts like a statue in front of a white void, which was made from quickly applied broad brushes. The gods and the sea that once accompanied the goddess Venus are not even hinted at – Venus is independent, sovereign and self-confident. Passaporte selects the most expressive elements and places them against a monotonous background: this is the only way to ensure that the viewer is not distracted by any other details. On this acrylic painting, the artist uses sporadic and artistically skillful aerosol lines, to reveal a few anatomical features of the new Venus. It is a balanced composition, with a Botticelli Venus that has been taken out of its context. Now it symbolizes the birth of a New Venus: an ideology from a golden age that remained only a visual memory motif.
